UKCP Dissertation Year

Part-time | 10 days over 10 months | Exeter

Starts 12th October 2024

This ten day programme is to facilitate trainees in psychotherapy towards achieving UKCP registration.  It is designed for trainees who are ready to complete all requirements for UKCP registration, within one academic year. This is usually 1-3 years after core advanced psychotherapy training at a post graduate level.

There is a two step process to completing registration with UKCP.  The first is a written case study that demonstrates their clinical philosophy, theory and methodology at level 7. The second is an evaluation in person where the candidate discusses their work to a board of three qualified and experienced psychotherapists registered with UKCP. This will include a presentation of a five – seven minute recording of their clinical work.  The course facilitates preparation and confidence around TA theory and practice such that students can:

  • Deliver their written exam in accordance with UKCP standards.
  • Deliver their mental health portfolio in accordance with UKCP standards.
  • Demonstrate their competency and professionalism in their oral viva run in accordance with UKCP standards

Trainees can expand their UKCP dissertation and undertake another viva that is very similar to the UKCP one. The difference is that the CTA covers couples and/or groups as well as individual hours. Trainees need 50 group hours as well as a further 250 hours of using Transactional Analysis in any relevant professional setting, (such as pastoral care and management. These hours may also be clinical).

Starts:             12th October 2024 - July 2025 (see Downloads for full schedule)
Campus:          Exeter
