For courses run directly by Iron Mill College, there is no deadline for applications. However, course places are limited and will be filled by successful applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. If a course includes an interview as part of the application process, applications need to be submitted in time for consideration, ahead of the last interview dates. Please check individual course pages or get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk for more information.
For our university degree courses (validated by the University of Worcester), applications are made through UCAS. For Postgraduate (university) courses, applications are made via the University of Worcester. For information on application deadlines for university courses, please see the UCAS website or get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk for details.
There is no automatic right of progression from one course to another and each course has its own eligibility criteria and application process.
We offer entry level, advanced, and post qualifying courses. The advanced courses will require completion of an entry level course as part of their eligibility requirements. This could be one of our entry level courses, or you might have completed an equivalent course elsewhere.
The post qualifying courses will usually require applicants to have completed an advanced course and be qualified as counsellor or psychotherapist (or other relevant mental health or wellbeing professional).
Please see the ‘Applications’ tab on each course page for more information or get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk if you have further queries.
The exact process and documents you will need to provide as part of your application will vary from course to course, depending on the eligibility requirements. Please see individual course pages (under the ‘Applications’ tab) for information on how to apply for that course or get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk for further details.
All courses will require you to complete an application form. Where courses require you to have completed previous academic or professional courses, you will need to supply copies of the relevant certificates of achievement during the process. Where appropriate, you may also need to supply written evidence of a course’s length (in terms of days / hours of study), where this is not explicit on the certificate itself i.e. where a certain number of days / hours of training are a pre-requisite of a course. For advanced and post qualifying courses, we will also ask you to provide copies of any other relevant professional qualification certificates you've mentioned in your application, and any higher education certificates you have (i.e. degree-level, equivalent, or above).
Where a course requires you to be a practicing counsellor, psychotherapist, or supervisor we will usually need a copy of relevant professional indemnity insurance covering your work, as well as details and proof of membership of a relevant professional body.
The purpose of a reference is to show that your referee feels (to the best of their knowledge) that you would be a suitable candidate to undertake a particular course - willing and able to undertake the commitments that the course will require. References will not need to be overly detailed or lengthy.
Your referee should know you well enough to write about you and your suitability for study. The referee should not be a family member, other relative or friend. An employer, health professional, supervisor, or tutor can provide references. Please make sure your referees are willing to respond quickly to avoid any delay in your application.
For some courses, where you are required to be an existing counsellor or psychotherapist, or where you are required to already be undergoing supervision, one of your references will need to be from your current supervisor.
Please check individual course pages for details of any specific requirements of references or feel free to get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk for further information if necessary.
Interviews are a requirement of all our university courses and some of our other courses too, but not all – some just require a written application. Please see individual course pages for information on the application process for that course (under the ‘Applications’ tab at the bottom of the page).
The format and timing of interviews depends on the particular course and some courses do not require an interview at all. Interviews may include individual interviews, group interviews or both. Please see individual course pages and FAQs for more information or get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk if you have further queries.
In most circumstances it should be possible to defer a place you have secured on a course (i.e. by successfully completing the application process for that course) to a future intake of that same course, if you are unable to take up your place on that course from the start.
In some circumstances on some courses, if you withdraw from a course which you have already started (and properly notify us in writing of this), it may be possible to resume your studies on a future intake of that course. Please do get in touch with us as soon as possible if you are considering withdrawing from a course at any stage and for any reason (at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk), we can then make your options clear to you.
