School Counsellor Network

School Counsellor Event (2160 × 1080px)_4

The Iron Mill College Let's Get Together zoom events are a series of networking seminars for school counsellors. Supported by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, they are designed to bring practitioners together to share best practice and overcome the sense of professional isolation that might come from being the only counsellor in an organisation.

Protective Behaviours (PBs) Workshop

The Protective Behaviours Process is an emotional safety process used in counselling, education, and social care to help individuals — especially children and vulnerable adults — develop skills for personal safety, self-awareness, and emotional resilience. PBs process has been around for 50 years and was introduced to the UK in the early 1990s. Its efficacy is universal, whether teaching it to a 3yr old or someone in their 80s. In this workshop, Tess Angelico will be offering a brief introduction to PBs.

About Tesstess

Tess is a retired children and families' social worker, a psychodynamic counsellor since 2005 and a Protective Behaviours' Safety Process Trainer for over 30yrs. Tess is an experienced trainer and has taught PBs to many Health, Education & Social Care Professionals over these years , as the 'trainer of choice' for MK Council for 10yrs.

During 25yrs + career as a social worker, Tess worked in many different roles, including as a Primary Mental Health Worker for Education in Milton Keynes CAMHS. This involved offering therapy to children in six of the twelve secondary schools in MK in 2012 whose mental health issues were affecting their school attendance and advising and supporting school staff in dealing with mental health issues that students were presenting with. As a counsellor, Tess has also been a Schools' Counsellor in Devon for a short time so has some idea of the issues that face School Counsellors!
