Michelle Ablett

Originally from Cheshire, Michele has lived in Exeter for 36 years. She has a business/ marketing/customer service/ product innovation and design background in the gifts industry and has five adult children.

Mentoring a young adult with mental health difficulties led to her journey into counselling training in 2011, and subsequently to counselling vulnerable and disadvantaged young adults in Michele Ablett B&W specialised local residencies.

Since 2014 she has worked in private practice as a counsellor, and then as a supervisor. Her approach is Integrative, with a Humanistic foundation, informed by Psychodynamic, IFS, Gestalt, TA and Systemic approaches and the use of creative and spiritual interventions.

In 2018, Michele was awarded a master’s degree, and extracts of her research dissertation exploring the efficacy, and timing of psychoeducation within the therapeutic frame, were published by BACP in ‘Therapy Today’ (2021) and in ‘Accord Magazine’ (2021). Her master’s degree included modules in Transcultural Counselling, Trauma Counselling, Systemic Therapy, Spirituality and Complex issues.

Michele enjoys family, granddaughters and friends, reading, fitness classes, singing, language-learning, travel, gardening and the beach.
