Learning Outcomes
The Counselling Skills Weekend Certificate course is delivered via skills practice. This will enable you to apply your previous learning and gain valuable experience and confidence. The course has 4 Learning Outcomes (LO), that is, intended learning that is assessed throughout the course. These are:
LO1 apply knowledge of basic counselling skills.
LO2 demonstrate the use of self-reflective practice.
LO3 demonstrate effective and appropriate communication with others within the group.
LO4 demonstrate awareness of difference and diversity.
Assessment
The Learning Outcomes are assessed during your contact time over the weekend.
Attendance
Attendance is a compulsory requirement of the course you are taking; therefore it is expected that all students will attend 100% of the weekend.
Following successful completion of your Counselling Skills Weekend Certificate, in addition to your initial certificate in counselling training, you have a number of options available so that you can continue to professional qualification and the ability to practice in counselling or psychotherapy.
Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP and NCPS accredited)
You can apply after successful completion of your Counselling Skills Weekend Certificate, in addition to your initial certificate in counselling training. You will then be invited to interview. You will need to take the completed Reflection On Skills document with you to interview, as it will provide good supportive evidence of your ability to meet the entry requirements.
Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapy (UKATA accredited)
You can apply after successful completion of your Counselling Skills Weekend Certificate, in addition to your initial certificate in counselling training. The application process includes an interview. Completion of the TA101 is also part of the assessment process.
For this course, Higher Education funding is available. You can apply after successful completion of your Counselling Skills Weekend Certificate, in addition to your initial certificate in counselling training. You will then be invited to interview. You will need to take the completed Reflection On Skills document with you to interview, as it will provide good supportive evidence of your ability to meet the entry requirements.
