We will learn about the effect of gender dysphoria and think together about how this impacts on the individual. We will find out about the lived experience of gender-diverse people.
This one-day training course will be a mix of information sharing, interactive exercises, experiential learning, and discussion delivered in a group setting.
Gender identity is rarely included in counselling and psychotherapy training courses and this is a chance to learn more about this issue in a safe environment. You may be interested if you are thinking of working with gender-diverse people or have an interest in broadening your knowledge in this area.
Participants will gain a better understanding of gender identity and gender dysphoria including the medical process people may go through. We will learn about the wide variety of identities and terminology. The course will encourage and enable participants to explore their thoughts and feelings about this emerging and challenging subject.
Liza Heatley combines extensive training experience with therapeutic and Trans-specific knowledge and practice. She is a UKCP registered Psychotherapist with an MSc in Psychotherapy, and a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (PTSTA, P). She worked for many years at the West of England Specialist Gender Identity Clinic. She is a Core Tutor at the Link Centre in East Sussex and a visiting tutor on the Iron Mill Transactional Analysis Foundation Year.
