Eligibility:
No prior knowledge of counselling and psychotherapy is required for this course.
Applicants should, however, feel that they possess a maturity to reflect on their own development as a person, and should have an interest in and desire to learn about counselling and psychotherapy.
How to apply:
You can apply by submitting the following documents and items:
- A completed Entry Level Courses application form (available to download from 'Download' section of this web page).
- You will also need to pay the relevant course fees in order to reserve a place on this course (see the 'Fees' tab for further information).
Application documents can be submitted by email to enquiries@ironmill.co.uk, or by post to Iron Mill College, 7 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, Devon, EX1 1QT.
Successful applicants will be offered a place on the course once all of the above application documents have been received and the relevant course fees have been paid.
After you have been offered a place on the course (as above) you will be given access to the online course materials within 5 working days (excluding bank holidays and the College Christmas closure period).

To undertake the Online Introduction, students will need access to a computer with internet access, meeting the specifications below.

Learning and assessment:
Students will need to complete exercises using a workbook throughout the course and spend time recording their thoughts and reflecting on their learning. There is an expectation for students to be proactive with their study as they progress through the course.
Assessment for the online Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy is based on:

Attendance requirements:
For the Online Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy, there is no attendance requirement (due to the manner in which the programme is delivered).
Please note, the Online Introduction must be completed within 12 months of your enrolment (though you can apply for a 3 month extension by paying an additional fee).
Award:
Iron Mill College Online Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy Certificate (for completion of the Online Introduction course only).
Online Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy:
You can begin this course at any time. Once you have fully completed your enrolment (see the 'Applications' tab for further information) you will be given access to the online course materials to begin the course within 5 working days (excluding bank holidays and the College Christmas closure period).
Modules are usually completed within 4-6 weeks study, however you can choose your own pace to complete the course within 12 months. If you wish, you can apply for a 3 month extension of your access to the online course materials, by paying an additional fee (see 'Fees' tab for more information).
Course fees and payment options:
- A one-off payment of £525.00 for the Online Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy only.
Further information on fees:
Fees include online course materials and ongoing tutor support. Fees listed include VAT.
Applicants are invited to enrol by paying the applicable fee (which shall be fully non-refundable in all circumstances) as well as submitting all application documents - see the 'Applications' tab for further information. Once you have fully completed your enrolment, you will be given access to the online course materials to begin the course within 5 working days (excluding bank holidays and the College Christmas closure period).
Students completing the Online Introduction Course only, also have the option to extend their access to the online course materials beyond 12 months. For a fee of £30.00, students can receive three extra months' access.
Due to the flexible nature of the course start dates and duration, unfortunately it is not possible to arrange a bespoke payment plan for the fees for the Online Introduction of the Blended Learning Certificate courses.

You can also pay all fees by credit / debit card, either in person at Iron Mill College in Exeter, or over the phone by calling 01392 219200. Please note that we are unable to accept payments via American Express or Diners Club cards.
We also accept cash paid in person at Iron Mill College in Exeter, as well as cheques, which should be made out to 'Iron Mill College' and dropped in or sent to 'Iron Mill College, Morwenstow, 7 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, Devon, EX1 1QT'. We can also accept payments by bank transfer and standing order - please get in touch with us at 01392 219200 / enquiries@ironmill.co.uk for our bank details or a standing order form. Please use your name as the reference when making such payments.
Course commencement:
Iron Mill College makes every effort to avoid altering course times, course commencement and conclusion dates. However, should any changes be necessary, you will be notified at the earliest opportunity. In-class experiential weekends run subject to demand and the formation of a viable class cohort, based on the enrolment of a minimum number of successful applicants. At least 14 days’ notice (prior to the advertised in-class experiential weekends) will be given to applicants, in the event of any cancellation or postponement. The college cannot be held liable for any remedy, damages or compensation beyond this.

Students with no previous relevant professional experience are recommended to enrol on the fully attended Certificate in Counselling (Quality Checked by NCS) as a suitable pre-requisite for applications to the Foundation Degree (FdA) in Integrative Counselling (Validated by University of Worcester) or Advanced DIploma in Integrative Counselling (Accredited by BACP).
