Tree Brain DiagramFoundation Certificate in Counselling Psychology


This fascinating part-time course is accessible to all and is available to study over 10 Saturdays in Exeter.

  • Offers a fantastic way to develop an understanding and appreciation of psychology, including different career paths such as counselling psychology.
  • Looks at the study of the mind and behaviour, embracing all aspects of human experience, from the function of the brain, to how we grow and develop, to how we see and interact with people and the world around us.
  • Allows students to learn and practice key basic counselling skills as well as engage in creative and innovative classroom interactions, such as debates and discussion groups.

Course Details

Key features:

  • Enables participants to build their knowledge and understanding of key aspects of psychology in the key disciplines, including Biological, Social, Mental Health, Perception and Developmental psychology.
  • Students will explore key and exciting topics, such as how the brain works, optical illusions and the formation of personality.
  • Offers an introduction to Counselling Psychology, with the opportunity to gain and develop valuable basic counselling skills.
  • Students will find out about careers in psychology including counselling, clinical, forensic and education.
Eligibility:


No prior knowledge of psychology or counselling is required for this course.


Applicants should, however, feel that they possess a maturity to reflect on their own development as a person, and should have an interest in and desire to learn about the subject matter.

  • A personal reference returned to us by your personal referee (reference request form available to download from 'Download' section of this web page).
  • A professional reference returned to us by your professional referee (reference request form available to download from 'Download' section of this web page).

You will also need to pay a £350 Enrolment Deposit, in order to reserve a place on this course (see the 'Fees' tab for further information).

Please note that you will only be offered a place on the course once all of the above application documents have been received and your Enrolment Deposit has been paid. This includes receipt of both references. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their referees supply references, following up requests for references where necessary.
