This 2 day (weekend) workshop, available in Poole and Exeter, is aimed at counsellors, psychotherapists and others working in helping professions.

  • Ideal for those who want to acquire specific skills for working with young people who present with symptoms of depression or anxiety.
  • Will help equip you with the knowledge and skills for working with young people and their parents.

Course Details

Key features:


  • Looks at what depression and anxiety are and how to differentiate between and thus work with the various types of anxiety disorders e.g. obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, etc.
  • Explores several techniques and skills that are helpful when working with this specific population and also discuss ways of managing common difficulties associated with this work e.g. anger, silence, non-committal responses.
  • Considers why there seems to be a rise in depression and anxiety in children and young people and ways of working with or alongside parents of children with anxiety and / or depression. We will also discuss self-harm and suicide risk and ways of managing this with young clients.
Eligibility:

Our CPD workshops are open to anyone who is interested in the subject matter, wants to develop their skills and expand their knowledge. This workshop is particularly aimed at counsellors, psychotherapists and those in helping professions who work therapeutically with others.
