Introduction to Psychological Resilience

This short workshop, available in Poole and Exeter, will be of interest to both professional helpers (psychotherapists, counsellors and coaches etc.) and to the general public.

  • This highly interactive programme will demonstrate a range of practical tools to manage pressure, enhance resilience and stay on top of your inner-game.
  • The programme is designed to equip participants with the skills to enhance their own psychological resilience and to help them support clients to manage theirs.
  • John Perry will share, in a packed 3 hour programme, tips and techniques he has picked up in a 25 year + career of helping people to thrive under pressure.

Course Details

Key features:

  • The course will cover how to manage demands, control responses and choose attitudes.
  • Participants will learn how recognise when we are heading for ‘survival mode’ and how to return quickly to ‘competency mode’.
  • Students will look at how to identify and challenge thinking errors, distance themselves from self-criticism and distinguish positive stress (‘eustress’) from negative stress (‘distress’).
  • The course will also explore moving towards an ‘internal locus of control’, mitigating the harm done by a busy ‘type-a’ lifestyle and activating the 'relaxation response' – to get a good night’s sleep!

Our CPD workshops are open to anyone who is interested in the subject matter, wants to develop their skills and expand their knowledge. This workshop is particularly aimed at counsellors, psychotherapists and those in helping professions who work therapeutically with others, but may also be of interest to the general public.
