Iron Mill College has launched an exciting new chapter in its 35 year history, by officially opening an additional new building at its home in Barnfield Crescent, Exeter. ‘The Quadrangle’ as the new building is known, trebles the capacity of the college and helps cement Iron Mill’s place as a leading provider of education and training in Mental Health and Wellbeing. The official opening was carried out by Dr Margot Sunderland, Director of Education and Training at The Centre for Child Mental Health London, in front of a packed audience of over 100 invited guests.
The acquisition of ‘The Quadrangle’ will allow Iron Mill College to offer even more training courses in counselling, psychotherapy, mental health and wellbeing, as well as improve facilities for its fast-growing community of students. Guests of the event were able to explore the new teaching rooms, library, kitchen, lunchroom and outdoor courtyard, as well as enjoy a fascinating seminar from Dr Sunderland on child and adolescent mental health in the new conference suite.
Commenting, Dr Sunderland said: “I was delighted to be invited to open Iron Mill College’s new building, ‘The Quadrangle’, and it has been fantastic to see so many people come along to celebrate this momentous occasion for the college. This is a fantastic new facility which is really going to help the college expand and enhance the excellent teaching it offers, in the fields of counselling, psychotherapy, mental health and wellbeing.”
College Principal, Rose Bedford, added: “The opening of ‘The Quadrangle’ represents the latest step in an exciting period of expansion for Iron Mill. We already provide a whole host of professional training courses and university degrees courses from entry level right through to post qualifying and we are expanding our course offering even further from September. I’m thrilled that our expanding student community, which represents a diverse range of ages and backgrounds, will benefit from the improved facilities that our extra new building offers.”
